Mount Whitney - Skills & Ascent

Mount Whitney is the highest peak in the lower 48 states, and boasts several moderate rock climbs and scrambles of excellent quality granite. Avoid the crowds by climbing one of these three moderate alpine climbs.

Sierra Intro to Mountaineering

Gain an introduction to alpine mountaineering in the Sierra and acquire the skills to be a fully competent rope team member on moderate non-glaciated alpine routes.

 
Winter Mountaineering - Sierra and Rockies

Our complete Winter Mountaineering Course is divided into 3 parts, water ice climbing, winter mountaineering, and backcountry skiing. Participants can take one or all parts over one or several seasons.

The American Alpine Institute womens programs are all female courses led by female instructors. The goal of these courses is to educate women and to create a positive learning environment that fosters confidence and self-reliance.
